Manheim Fox was a 30-year-old producer in 1965 when he presented the first New York Folk Festival at Carnegie Hall. The festival, a retrospective of folk music running over four evenings, also included two workshops and a children's concert. Fox had a background in music publishing and theatrical management, and was inspired to organize a festival after hearing singer-songwriter Buffy Sainte-Marie perform in Kentucky.
The scrapbook primarily contains clippings about the first New York Folk Festival that ran from June 17 through June 20, 1965 at Carnegie Hall. It also contains scripts for some of the segments of the festival, such as "The Evolution of Funk”. There is a postcard from Buffy Sainte-Marie to Mr. Fox thanking him for organizing the festival. The scrapbook also contains a program and flyer.
